BurningBright in two Animation Festivals !

My thesis film-Burning Bright has been select in 2011 NW Animation Festival !
My animation has been show in 5th Avenue Cinema, Portland City(Oregon, USA) at June3 7:00~10:00pm

我的畢業製作動畫"Burning Bright" 入選2011 NorthWest動畫影展!!
片子將在今年六月三號, 美國波特蘭市的5th Avenue Cinema電影院與其他的入選短片一同撥出

CGtalk_lighting challenge_ Theater

##The character and movie theater was modeled by Dan Konieczka.##
This challenge is very difficult for me to come out an idea to do it... In the end, I decide to duplicate chairs, fance, stair and make it become a fancy show theater.The following is my first draft(March30), but I feel the overall color is a little bit monotone, and he chair and curtain's shading is not right. I'll try to fix it in the later day.

april 1st update

I add "color cuvre" to some lights toenrich the light color, and add a Depth of field, as well as paint a character on the stage.

April10 upadte, I don't like my painting-character since it's not fit with set at all. Therefore, I decide to put a piano. Beside, I modify the lights a little bit to make people's eye focusing on piano.

[EDW] week4 update

I re-drawn the perspective and move my foreground wall to the left for better composition.

Also, I started the detail paint:

EDW project ideas

In the Experimental Digital Workshop, I'm going to do an independent study on matte painting.

I'm going to create a new tag [EDW] for this serious of articles.

here are two brain-storm ideas for the project:

--------------------------first idea----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

the first one is inspirit by the castle photo I took in Mt. St. Micheal

many films have shots like that: having a castle(and character) in the foreground and using a matte painting to create a far mountain background to add depth to the scene. Therefore, I think this photo maybe a good material for me to start my first matte painting project

my plan is:

background:

* add trees and mountain in the back ground

* add a sky

* add mountain&sky reflection on the water

midground:

*add top of castle

*remove people in the original photo

foreground:

* add a CG castle wall and a robot's hand

which need to be lighting & render match the atmosphere of photo

**slowing zoom in the camera

(need to animating background/midground/foreground moving in different speed)

the second idea is from piecing four of my photos together and add a group of CG birds(particle insteadser) flying by in it

Now, I like the first idea better, because that has better composition and overall mode.I'll go talk to the professor and my classmates/friends on Tuesday, then decide.
